Hello and welcome to Exploring Our World Differently (EOWD). My name is Tracy Peterson and I am a parent of an adult non-verbal person on the Autism Spectrum. My son's special needs have deeply impacted our family in countless ways including but not limited to financial, career choices, health and wellness, relationships, when and how we choose to socialize, and so much more.
It has been many years since EOWD first entered my mind and I have spent just as long starting and stopping my efforts as I navigated how exactly I wanted to share our story with a goal of helping others while not putting my family in a vulnerable situation.
As parents and caregivers to special needs individuals, we often live our lives outside of social norms, continually thinking outside the box, and developing our (at least in our case) non-verbal communication skills.
While I will share a lot about our personal experiences, my intention is to not focus specifically on my son, but to be a personal development resource for others on a similar journey.
